These leggings are made from Amni Soul Eco® and ROICA™ V550 elastane, two groundbreaking materials that accelerate biodegradability in landfills and marine environments, thereby reducing the accumulation of textile waste on our planet. Amni Soul Eco® is a pioneering polyamide fabric that is sustainably transforming the textile industry. Manufactured by Solvay, it contains special additives that accelerate its biodegradability. Thanks to this innovation, Amni Soul Eco® decomposes within just 3 to 5 years in landfills and within 10 years in marine environments, as opposed to traditional textiles which often take decades to break down. This enhanced biodegradability helps reduce the amount of textile waste in landfills and oceans, significantly decreasing environmental impact.

The unique composition of Amni Soul Eco® allows for up to 10 times faster decomposition in landfills and about 20 times faster decomposition in marine environments compared to traditional polyamides. This rapid biodegradability is confirmed by tests according to ASTM D5511 for landfills and ASTM D6691 for marine environments. As a result, it reduces the accumulation of microplastics and textile waste on our planet.


Amni Soul Eco® retains the positive attributes of Polyamide 6.6: high dimensional stability, low friction coefficient, high mechanical strength, vivid colors, and colorfastness. These characteristics ensure that garments made from this material have a long lifespan, do not fray or fade, and are easy to maintain.

Rapid Decay

The special formulation includes an additive that accelerates the degradation of the material in two different environments: landfills and oceans, thereby reducing textile pollution in these settings. In oceans, this especially addresses the issue of microplastic pollution, which is partly caused by washing synthetic clothing. This acceleration pertains only to the end-of-life of the products, while the durability and quality of the clothing remain intact.

Sustainable Production

Solvay has established a local supply chain in the production of Amni Soul Eco® and uses a closed water cycle to minimize environmental impacts. Additionally, production is carried out in Brazil, where over 80% of energy sources are renewable. The company also follows the ISO 14000 environmental management system and is certified by the Wildlife Habitat Council to protect biodiversity.


ROICA™ V550 is a biodegradable yarn that has already received a Cradle-to-Cradle (C2C) Material Health Certificate. It offers a sustainable alternative to conventional elastane, typically used in the fashion industry in the form of spandex or lycra.


What is Elastane?

Elastan ist eine leichte, synthetische Faser, die Kleidung elastisch macht. Elastane is a lightweight, synthetic fiber that makes clothing stretchy. It is derived from petroleum and is made of a long-chain polymer called polyurethane, which is a non-renewable resource.

Sustainability Issues:

Although elastane constitutes only a small part of the final product, it is difficult to recycle and is not biodegradable. As a result, it accumulates in the environment, both through garments that end up in landfills and through microfibers that enter the water supply during washing.

ROICA™ V550 as a Sustainable Alternative:

ROICA™ V550 is an innovative stretch yarn that possesses the same elastic properties as traditional elastane but is produced in a sustainable manner. It has received the Hohenstein Environmental Compatibility Certification and decomposes by 35% within 270 days, without releasing harmful substances into the environment.

Material Properties:

ROICA™ V550 can be blended with other fibers, offering the same benefits as conventional elastane without harming the environment. This makes it suitable for form-fitting garments like our Life Leggings.

Microplastics are tiny plastic particles that have the same chemical structure as macroplastics. The difference lies in their size: macroplastics are visible to the naked eye, while microplastics can only be seen under a microscope. Both are present in the air, water, and oceans.

Microplastics can absorb toxic compounds such as heavy metals and other pollutants, and introduce them into the food chain.

The fashion industry significantly contributes to the pollution of the oceans with microplastics. About one-third of all microplastic pollution in the oceans comes from washing fabrics, which annually washes about half a million tons of microfibers into the sea.

Biodegradability is the biological breakdown of a material. It begins with the fragmentation of the polymer through mechanisms such as UV radiation, microorganisms, or mechanical action. Subsequently, enzymes break down the polymer into oligomers and monomers, which are absorbed by microorganisms and converted into biogas (CO₂, CH₄), water, and biomass.

Amni Soul Eco® is enhanced by special additives incorporated into the polyamide fabric, enabling it to decompose about 20 times faster than conventional textiles in marine environments. This means that the fabric breaks down in a significantly shorter period in marine environments, leading to a quicker reduction in environmental impact from textile waste.

Yes, the durability and quality of the fabric remain the same as conventional polyamide. The decomposition only affects the end-of-life phase of the material and has no impact on the durability or longevity of the garment.
